Wellness NOW, a Colorado 501c3, establishes fund to pay for healthcare for poor and those whose insurance does not cover treatments.

(Denver, CO) – Noreen Teachout of Wellness NOW, A Learning Place Inc. in cooperation with The Colorado Center of Traditional Medicine has established a fund that will pay for Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapies for victims of violent crimes, elderly patients, and patients without health insurance or whose health insurance does not pay for "alternative" therapies. According to Ms. Teachout, "Wellness NOW is filling the gap in healthcare by offering information and access to therapists who are certified in traditional, ancient, alternative therapies.

The Board of Wellness NOW is also seeking help with fundraising ideas and strategies. Any help with this project will be greatly appreciated by us and by patients who need care but can't afford it." Martha Lucas, Ph.D., L.Ac. of The Colorado Center of Traditional Medicine says "It is my firm belief and my experience that TCM works and that people heal even though they feel that they have reached the end of their rope and have used all of the options offered by modern medicine. Therefore, it is hard for me to turn people away because their insurance doesn't cover treatment and they can't afford it. The program that Wellness NOW is offering will fill that need."

Patients will be treated either at The Colorado Center of Traditional Medicine located in the Capitol Hill area of downtown Denver or in Fort Collins at Greyrock Family Practice, 1240 Doctors Lane near Poudre Valley Hospital. Donations can be sent to Wellness NOW, 1255 19th Street #1609, Denver, Colorado 80202-1434 in the name of a particular person or just as a general donation to pay for services rendered to the needy. The fees that practitioners will be paid for treatments range from $50 to $75. Lucas says "if benefactors could see their way clear to pay for a series of treatments, say 10, for a particular patient, that would be spectacular!"
